Ammi (meaning Mother in Hindi / Urdu) at Pier 57 Food Hall is a homage to all mothers and home-style Indian cooking.
A mother’s food signifies warmth, comfort, and safety to all of us.
Our concept is about mothers and what they stand for; good memories and good food.
The home-style limited menu at Ammi is by Suraiya Rizvi, restaurateur Jimmy Rizvi’s mother.
Suraiya was born into an Indian Muslim family. She started cooking from an early age. Her recipes date back to her grandmother’s delicious and flavorful traditional meals.
She is known amongst friends & family for her homemade curries, bread, freshly made pickles, and perfectly seasoned meats and vegetables.
Inspired by her love for cooking and a desire to share her family’s recipes with the world, Suraiya & Ammi’s chefs will provide some of the most popular Indian food.
